undid stack clean up in r647 since it caused a pretty major break in ScrollExample and others. That's what I get for thinking I'm being clever.

Not sure if this method will stick around long term in 2.0, since it's doing something that more appropriately belongs in a helper class of some sort, but it works now.  Tests have been added aswell.
